Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan β€” UP Madhyamik

Vocational education inside government secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh β€” so students learn a real, NSQF-aligned trade alongside their regular studies. Delivered by Mahendra Skills with 166+ vocational trainers (VTs) under the UP Madhyamik project.

The scheme

What is Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan?

Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is the Government of India's flagship integrated school-education programme, covering every stage from pre-primary to senior secondary. It brings the earlier Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Teacher Education schemes under one umbrella, with a single goal β€” holistic, equitable, quality education for every child.

A key pillar of the scheme is vocational education in schools: students of classes 9–12 learn employable, NSQF-aligned job skills inside their own school β€” bridging learning gaps, reducing dropouts and preparing young people for work or higher study.

  • Pre-primary to class 12 β€” one integrated programme for the whole school journey.
  • Vocational education embedded in secondary schools, aligned to NSQF job roles.
  • Employability from school β€” practical skills, exposure to industry and dignity of work.

Why it matters

Skills that start in school change life trajectories

When a student learns a real trade in classes 9–12, employability stops being an after-thought β€” it becomes part of growing up. School-based vocational education reduces dropouts, builds confidence, and gives families in every district a head start on livelihood.

  • Part of our school-to-livelihood mission β€” the same chain we run from mobilisation to placement.
  • Backed by a decade of NSDC delivery β€” 2,40,373 enrolled and 1,14,928 placed across our programmes.
  • Aligned with UP Madhyamik β€” one of our active current projects, alongside PMKVY 4.0, JSDM and CSR programmes.
